Energy-Efficiency Improvements

  • The ECAD ordinance seeks to improve Austin’s energy efficiency. Improving energy efficiency can increase the value of multifamily properties; increase tenant satisfactions by lowering energy bills, and help tenants choose properties that are energy efficient.
  • Between June 1, 2009 and June 1, 2011, Austin Energy will offer enhanced multifamily rebates to encourage property owners to make energy-efficiency improvements.

Enhanced Rebate levels

  1. Solar Screens

  • From $1.00 to $1.50/SF for double pane glass
  • From $1.25 to $1.88/SF for single pane glass
  1. Attic Insulation

  • From $.10 to $.15/SF for existing R-8 thru R-16
  • From $.15 to $.23/SF for R-7 and below
  1. Air Duct

  • From $.25 to $.38 SF/ for Uncased Fan Coil Units ONLY
