Services/Pricing

We view your home as an entire system. This is why we recommend all of our tests to our customers. The more information we can gather from your home, the better we can pinpoint your home’s inefficiencies. Austin Green Team’s tests are extensive, precise, and safe. A 3-4 hour assessment will review each of these sub-systems in your house.

  • Windows and Skylights—determine E-value ratings and the need for solar shading/screens
  • Attic Spacesdetermine R-value of insulation and the need for additional ventilation or solar barriers
  • Appliances and Lightingidentify energy star appliances and the type of lighting and thermostats

Duct Blaster:

Duct Blaster Test

Studies estimate that fixing leaky duct work can save up to 25 percent on energy costs. A Duct Blaster is one diagnostic tool used by Austin Green Team professionals to determine how leaky, or energy-inefficient, a duct system is. It can accurately measure duct leakage rates up to 1500 CFM. To perform a duct leakage test, an AGT auditor connects a Duct Blaster to a duct system at the air handler or a central return grille. All other return grilles and supply registers are temporarily sealed. The Duct Blaster fan is turned on and flow is increased until the duct system is depressurized to -25 Pa. Leakage rates can then is measured using an airflow and pressure gauge called a manometer. If desired, theatrical fog can be injected in the systems to determine the exact location of leaks and to demonstrate duct leakage to homeowners.

Blower Door:

Blower Door Test

Air leakage in an improperly sealed home can increase heating and cooling cost by more than 30%, cause moisture and condensation problems, contribute to uncomfortable drafts, and/or decrease indoor air quality. Using the Minneapolis Blower Door (recognized as the best designed and supported building air tightness testing system) an Austin Green Team auditor will depressurize your home to find hidden air leakage sites called bypasses. The blower door is a powerful variable speed fan that mounts in an exterior door. When operated with a manometer (an instrument used to measure pressure differences and volumes of air), our auditor will be able to determine just how tight or leaky your home is.

Gas Appliance Performance and Safety Test:

Carbon Monoxide is an orderless, colorless, tasteless gas that is a by-product of incomplete combustion and is known as a silent killer. Each year more than 400 Americans die from unintentional CO poisoning. Our Gas Appliance Performance and Safety test will not only test for CO but will also test for gas line leakage and will test your appliances to make sure they are not back drafting.

Detailed Report: (included with Premium Audit)

Upon completion of our energy audit, you will receive a detailed report outlining our findings along with remedial measures to improve comfort, energy efficiency and reduce your energy costs. By implementing our recommendations, you will:
  • Offset the cost of the audit through improved energy savings
  • Enjoy increased air quality and a more comfortable home
  • Be able to take advantage of available rebates, tax credits, and deductions
  • Lessen your carbon footprint by consuming less energy

*Testing and recommendations are based on accepted building science principles as prescribed by one or more of the following organizations: The Building Performance Institute (BPI), the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET), American Society of Heating and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE)or the American Society for Testing and Materials(ASTM). All certified auditors listed on Austin Green Team.net have passed at least one of the exams offered by BPI or RESNET.
